National Law University, Delhi partners with Hughes Communications

Launches One year Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and Law in your City.

New Delhi, August …, 2009: National Law University, Delhi (University of Law) today announced the launch of one year Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Law in partnership with Global Institute of Intellectual Property (GIIP) and Hughes Communications. The program is specially devised to cater to the increasing demand of trained (legal & technical) Intellectual Property professionals in the Industry, R&D organizations, government agencies and Non-Government organizations. The Program will be conducted across India through Hughes Global Education Platform using satellite based ‘Interactive Onsite Learning’ pedagogy.

There has been a significant rise in the filing and litigation of IPs such as Trademarks, Copyrights, Designs as well as Patents internationally and in India. Globalization and the rapid proliferation of technology, coupled with the intangible nature of intellectual property have created challenges for those businesses wishing to protect their inventions, technological breakthroughs, brands and business methods in domestic and foreign markets.

This Diploma program in accordance with the Global Institute of Intellectual Property (GIIP), the academic partner of National Law University, Delhi has been structured by experts in the field of IP and Patents, including Academicians, IP & Patent Attorneys, Patent Examiners & Agents from the US, Europe and India, keeping the industry requirements at core.

The program would provide the participants with in-depth knowledge of the laws and process related to Trademarks, Copyrights, Geographical Indications, Trade Secrets, Patents and other forms of IPs, Filing Procedures and conducting trademark/prior art searches. The program will have an extensive coverage on issues related to Management of IP, such as, Commercialization, Valuation, Licensing and Portfolio Audit. This program is at par with the finest IP programs anywhere. Apart from legal frameworks, the training will cover the technical aspects of writing patents and other forms of IP documents, within US, European and Indian processes.

It will expose the participants to the life cycle of different types of intellectual property rights beginning from protection, maintenance, seeking remedies against infringement, licensing and commercialization. The program will build proficiency and comparative understanding in the area of Indian, US and European Patent Systems.”

The coursework will be spread over a one year divided into six modules, which includes Introduction to Intellectual Property, Protection and Maintenance of Intellectual Property, Patent Process (India, US, Europe, Via Pct), Patent Prosecution, Searching & Drafting, IP Litigation & Alternate Dispute Resolution and IP Management.

The participants will also have 30 Hours of ‘On Campus’ interaction, conducted by highly qualified and experienced faculty which include Professors from US and Indian Academic Institutes, practicing IP Attorneys & Patent Agents, Professionals from USPTO, India PTO, LPOs, Silicon Valley Seminars Inc. and in-house team of US trained Professors.
